Target
The SMN complex plays an essential role in spliceosomal snRNP assembly in the cytoplasm and is required for pre-mRNA splicing in the nucleus. It may also play a role in the metabolism of snoRNPs. Required in motor neurons and proprioceptive neurons to ensure correct U12 intron splicing and proper levels of Tmem41b mRNA. Required for normal motor neuron development.
Subcellular location: Cytoplasm. Nucleus gem. Cytoplasmic granule. Cytoplasm myofibril sarcomere Z line. Note: Under stress conditions colocalizes with Rpp20/Pop7 in punctuated cytoplasmic granules. Colocalizes with Actn at the Z-line of skeletal muscle.

Storage
Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
