Target
FUNCTION: Required for the uptake of creatine in muscles and brain.
Defects in SLC6A8 are the cause of X-linked creatine deficiency syndrome (XL-CDS). XL-CDS causes developmental delay, hypotonia, mental retardation, seizures, short stature and midface hypoplasia.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein
Tissue specificity: Predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle and kidney. Also found in brain, heart, colon, testis and prostate.

Storage
Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
