A synthetic peptide from n-terminal region of mouse KCNIP2 (Potassium channel-interacting protein 2) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the antigen.

FUNCTION: Regulatory subunit of Kv4/D (Shal)-type voltage-gated rapidly inactivating A-type potassium channels. Probably modulates channels density, inactivation kinetics and rate of recovery from inactivation in a calcium-dependent and isoform-specific manner. In vitro, modulates KCND2/Kv4.2 and KCND3/Kv4.3 currents. Involved in KCND2 and KCND3 trafficking to the cell surface.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor; Peripheral membrane protein
TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed in brain. Colocalizes with KCND2 in excitatory neurons including cortical and hippocampal CA1 pyramidal cells. Isoform3 is expressed in heart and in umbilical vein endothelial cells. Not expressed in fetal heart.
Highly expressed in layer IV of the cerebral cortex and in striatum and hippocampus, but expressed at low levels in cerebellum. Also expressed in heart reportedly at much higher levels than in brain.

Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
