FUNCTION: Ca²⁺ release-activated Ca²⁺ (CRAC) channel subunit which mediates Ca²⁺ influx following depletion of intracellular Ca²⁺ stores and channel activation by the Ca²⁺ sensor, STIM1. CRAC channels are the main pathway for Ca²⁺ influx in T-cells and promote the immune response to pathogens by activating the transcription factor NFAT. Defects in ORAI1 are a cause of severe combined immunodeficiency with CRAC channel dysfunction (CRAC-SCID). SCID refers to a genetically and clinically heterogeneous group of rare congenital disorders characterized by impairment of both humoral and cell-mediated immunity, leukopenia, and low or absent antibody levels. Patients with SCID present in infancy with recurrent, persistent infections by opportunistic organisms. The common characteristic of all types of SCID is absence of T-cell-mediated cellular immunity due to a defect in T-cell development.

Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
