Immunogen A synthetic peptide as a part of rat contactin-5 (NB-2, contactin 5, CNTN5) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the immunogen.
Conjugate Unconjugated antibody
Accession CNTN5_RAT
Also known as NB-2, contactin 5, CNTN5, Neural recognition molecule NB-2
Background The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored neuronal membrane protein that functions as a cell adhesion molecule. It may play a role in the formation of axon connections in the developing nervous system. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.

FUNCTION: Contactins mediate cell surface interactions during nervous system development. Has some neurite outgrowth-promoting activity in the cerebral cortical neurons but not in hippocampal neurons. Probably involved in neuronal activity in the auditory system.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor, GPI-anchor.
TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Specifically expressed in the nervous system. Expressed in cerebrum and cerebellum but at low level in spinal chord. In brain, it is expressed in highly restricted regions at postnatal day 7, such as the auditory pathway, including the cochlear nucleus, superior olive, inferior colliculus, medial geniculate nucleus and auditory cortex. Expressed in the accessory olfactory bulb, glomerular and mitral cell layers in the olfactory bulb, anterior thalamic nuclei, layers II-IV of the cerebral cortex, dentate gyrus of the hippocampus and external granule cells and Purkinje cells of the cerebellum. Also expressed in the piriform cortex, inferior olive and facial nucleus. Weakly or not expressed in other parts of the brain.
DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Expressed after birth, reaching a maximum at postnatal day 14 in the cerebrum and postnatal day 3 in the cerebellum. Then, it decreases abruptly thereafter (at protein level).
Host NZ white rabbit
Purity Whole serum
Clonality Polyclonal
Isotype Polyclonal, whole serum
Applications IHC, WB. A dilution of 1 : 300 to 1 : 3000 is recommended. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user.
Specificity Specific for contactin-5.
Spcs X-react. Rat. Other species not yet tested.
Format Lyophilised
Reconstitution Reconstitute in 100 µl of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
Storage Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
Expiry Date 12 months after reconstitution
Transportation This item will be shipped to you at ambient temperature in a lyophilised form.
